Kurds living in Toronto protested against the invasion attacks of the Turkish state across Kurdistan territory.
The Democratic Kurdish People's Assembly in Toronto, Canada protested the invasion attacks of the Turkish state.
Kurds living in the city rallied against the Turkish invasion attacks in Dundas Square, one of the busiest places in the city.
The protest started with a moment of silence and slogans for those who were martyred in the genocidal Turkish attacks.
Protestors displayed images of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and PKK and YPG/YPJ flags during the protest, as well as banners reading "Defend Rojava".
'ALL YOUTH SHOULD BE MOBILIZED'
A press statement read out in English and Turkish said, “Dictator Erdogan is a threat to peace in the region and the world, which leads to instability. In the meantime, the silence and ambivalent approach of the European states serves Turkey's expansionist ambitions in the region.”
“We call for solidarity with the Rojava Revolution against Erdogan’s dirty war, chemical weapons and invasion operation.”
The statement continued, “As the Toronto Democratic Kurdish People's Assembly, we call on all our youth to mobilize, to take to the streets to embrace Rojava, Shengal and all Kurdistan in the spirit of the Kobanê resistance and to expose and protest the invading Turkish state. We call on the Kurdish people and their friends to denounce the invading Turkish state to global public opinion.
We request the Kurdish people and their friends to support our campaign 'Freedom for Öcalan, Peace in Kurdistan' to mark World Peace Day,” the statement said.
Hundreds of leaflets in English were distributed to Canadian passers-by during the protest.
The protest was concluded with slogans and applause.
