Protest demonstrations will be held across Europe on the occasion of 9 October 1998, the date on which the International Conspiracy which resulted in the capture of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan by the Turkish state on 15 February 1999.
Kurds and their friends living in the suburb of Villiers Le Bel in Paris, kicked off the protests on Friday night.
Hundreds of people gathered in front of the suburban station to attend the demonstration organised by the French Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-F) and Villiers-Le-Bel People's Assembly. They marched to the Villiers Le Bel Kurdish Culture House, where they made a statement. Xezal Sor said: “The conspiracy against our Leader 24 years ago continues with massacres today. Whatever the outcome, we will increase our struggle in every field we are in, until we follow in the footsteps of our Leader, enlarge his struggle and ensure our Leader's physical freedom.”
The statement ended with a call to attend the central march today at 2pm in Republique square, in Paris.
