Speaking on behalf of People's Democratic Congress (HDK) at the Newroz celebration in Amed, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) said that HDK supported the new way to democracy outlined by Öcalan.

“After the pains we have suffered, we have today reached a door which opens into the freedom of the Kurdish people and brotherhood of peoples. We wouldn't be able to reach this door but for the struggle the Kurdish people have fought up to date”, said Kürkçü and saluted all those who lost their life in the Kurdish struggle.

The BDP deputy noted that Armenians, Assyrians, Greeks and many other peoples share the lands of the country. Kürkçü pointed out that Kurds revolted against the oppression they have been subjected to for centuries now. Kürkçü ended his speech by saluting Kurdish leader Öcalan who -he said- had contributed to the organization of the revolutionary movement in Turkey.
