As he came out from the Intensive Care Unit at Ankara hospital, HDP’s newly elected co-chair Ertuğrul Kürkçü had his first message to bianet, the agency he co-founded. "It was a little trick of nature", he said talking about the heart attack he suffered on Sunday just after delivering his speech at the HDP congress.

He was put through an angiogram. At the end of a 30 minute intervention, doctors replaced the heart stent inserted in 2004. 

“I am on my duty. I am returning with a renewed heart” HDP Co-Chair Ertuğrul Kürkçü told bianet.

Kürkçü’s friends, co-workers and family members have anxiously waited at the hospital since yesterday.

Around 4pm today, he was discharged from the ICU. Doctors said his health situation was improving by the hours and he was soon to be discharged.
