Kürkçü MP: Police were slow in Sinop

Speaking to ANF about the lynch attempt the People's Democratic Congress (HDK) delegation suffered during the Black Sea tour they then called off, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Mersin deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü said that the attacks they faced during the tour came from “special war and gladio powers” not from the local residents. “Who will display sensitivity concerning the martyrs of Kurdistan?”, Kürkçü asked those who remind of “sensitivities” of Turkish circles.

Kürkçü accused the police directorate of Sinop of weakness and negligence in taking measures for the safety of deputies and told the followings on the police's role in the lynching attempts against the delegation; “While leaving Sinop, we were taking the roads that the police directorate had earlier planned for our leave and informed us about. However, our cars were once again stoned by groups on this route as well, which obviously means that police had leaked information on the route we would follow while leaving. On the other hand, we saw police officers having warm and sincere talks with the assailants while waiting outside in the garden of the teacher's lodge during our visit there. The assailants weren't prevented or intervened while damaging our cars. It was only after our talks with Ankara and the engagement of our co-chairs that police forces set up a barricade between the garden and the building”.

Kürkçü pointed out that the disproportionately violent attacks, which gave the message “no pass”, were organized by a head that gathered unconnected and separate people together. “The attacks had the aim to protect and maintain the particular war structure in the Black Sea, to prevent the awakening of the people suppressed by this structure and to make sure that people continue to live in tension in the form of divided nations”, added Kürkçü.
