Lawyers hold 183rd demonstration for Tahir Elci

Another demonstration was held for Tahir Elci in front of the Diyarbakir Court House protesting the Forensics Institution decision to not issue a new report.

The Amed Bar Association held the 183rd demonstration in front of the Diyarbakir Court House demanding the perpetrators of the bar’s president Tahir Elci, who was murdered by state forces, be found.

Amed Bar Association President Cihan Aydin said they are determined to continue their protests until the perpetrators face justice in the Tahir Elci case and are sentenced to what they deserve, ending impunity.

FORENSICS INSTITUTE: WE WON’T ISSUE A NEW REPORT

Aydin said they obtained the file sent to the Forensics Institute and added that they will be assessing it extensively and later share the report with the media. Aydin said the Forensics Institute said they won’t be issuing another report and added: “There is no change. What needs to be done is to heed the report we had prepared by the University of London and move on to the investigation phase at once. We demand that the perpetrators and the accused give their depositions as soon as possible as suspects and the necessary procedures be followed.”

“THEY COMMIT CRIMES IN PRISONS”

The Tahir Elci Human Rights Tribune’s subject for the week was Rights Violations in Prisons. Aydin said, “We met with former HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtas. He said he wasn’t given certain publications including the Yeni Yasam newspaper. Despite the Constitutional Court ruling, the prison administrations continue with their arbitrary practices. The Constitutional Court said in the ruling that arbitrary practices must stop. Whoever enables this arbitrary state is openly committing a crime through not complying with a ruling from the judiciary.
