“Let's change the genocide history of Êzîdîs"

Engin Özmen with the code-name Tori Şengalê, an Êzîdî youth who joined the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS) ranks from Germany after the ISIS attack and massacre in the town early August, called on all Êzîdî youths to join the YBS to defend and liberate Sinjar from ISIS gangs.

It was Özmen's conscience that led him from Germany to Sinjar after the savagery the people of the Êzîdî community suffered from ISIS gangs.

Şengalê, a member of a Kurdish family who migrated from Mardin to Germany, who spoke to ANF, emphasised that the Êzîdî people must now change the genocide history they have been through.

"My family, who are also from the Êzîdî community, had been living in Mardin before migrating to Germany 73 years after the massacre of their people", Şengalê said, also voicing inconvenience for being away from his lands.

Şengalê told the followings as to why and how he joined the YBS ranks; "I felt a conscientious responsibility while ISIS gangs were committing a massacre against the people of Sinjar they occupied on 3 August. Especially after watching on TV the scenes of humanitarian tragedy my people were suffering from, I decided that I should be near my people there. I came to Sinjar mountains because I wanted to change the genocide destiny of the Êzîdî people, wanting this massacre to be a last one for them to suffer. As a member of Sinjar Resistance Units, I am providing the security of my people on Mount Sinjar now."

Remarking that the YBS however needs to grow further in order for Sinjar's liberation, Şengalê called on all Êzîdî youths to join the YBS ranks in order to ensure the liberation of the Êzîdî town.
