Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chairs sent a letter to the president of Sinn Féin, Ms. Mary Lou McDonald regarding her party's election victory.

The letter by HDP Co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli reads as follows:

“Dear Ms. McDonald,

We would like to congratulate you for your party’s recent electoral victory, which is surely the outcome of a long and arduous history of social and political struggle. Your success is a source of inspiration and strength for all the peoples who struggle for democracy, freedom and justice across the globe.

As a sibling party of the Sinn Fein, we are very proud of and strengthened by your success. We have already established strong relations with your party and your people. We very much appreciate the support and solidarity you have generously extended to the HDP and the Kurdish people, especially over the last few extremely challenging years.

We would like to further strengthen our relations in the future and built networks of solidarity between our peoples who have similar histories of both brutal oppression and dignified resistance.
