‘Long March’ for Öcalan’s freedom to kick off in Bonn today

This year’s long march demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan will be held in Germany.

The traditional long march held in Europe every year to demand freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, will kick off in the German city of Bonn on September 8 this year.

The march will be held under the motto “Together with Rêber Apo destroy colonialism”. Kurdish and internationalist youth from all over Europe are expected to come together for the march. The gathering site for the participants is the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Bonn.

The march will kick off in Bonn and move on to Troisdorf, Leverkusen, Düsseldorf and end in Monchengladbach on September 13. The participants will attend various events in the cities on their route where they will stay in the evenings.

The Organisation Committee stated that preparations have been completed, and called on the Kurdish youth, internationalists and patriotic Kurds to join the march to destroy fascism.

The Committee said the following in their call;

“The colonialist Turkish state and the AKP-MHP fascism have been preparing to perpetrate yet another genocide in Kurdistan and they continue to impose isolation to achieve this goal. The door was opened slightly to eliminate the isolation thanks to a historic resistance and at the cost of heavy prices but the AKP-MHP fascism continues to deny Leader Apo meetings with his lawyers and family with arbitrary practices. We as Kurdish youth will be hitting the road for 5 days to demand physical freedom for Leader Apo. We will march on the path opened by the martyrs and we will continue to struggle in order to realize our dream to meet with Free Leader in Free Kurdistan. On this basis, we call upon all the patriotic, revolutionary and internationalist youth in Europe to join our Long March action in spirit of mobilization.”
