Long March from Hannover to Hamburg in September

The traditional Long March held by Kurdish youth in Europe every year will be staged from Hannover to Hamburg from the 5th to the 11th of September this year.

The Long March demanding freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, organised under the lead of Kurdish youth in Europe for over 20 years, will be held this year under the motto “For the Freedom of Rêber Apo, Together Serhildan”.

Hundreds of young people from France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, England and all-around Europe are expected to join this year’s Long March.

In a statement on this year’s action, the Organising Committee highlighted the importance of the Long March at a time when Turkish state fascism has reached its peak throughout Kurdistan and the absolute isolation on Öcalan is aggravated.

The Committee called on Kurdish and internationalist youth to join the action “which will be held in the spirit of the Battle of Heftanin campaign”.

The Organising Committee said they will also give a message to the European states that are in a military, political and economic collaboration with the Turkish state and support the Kurdish genocide.

“As Kurdish and internationalist youth, we will unite, resist and win against capitalism, fascism and colonialism,” the statement said.

Participants from all over Europe will gather in the German city of Hannover on September 4 before the march kicks off on the 5th. The program of the Long March is as follows:

Day 1: Hannover-Lehrte

Day 2: Lehrte-Celle

Day 3: Celle-Unterlüß

Day 4: Unterlüß-Lüneburg

Day 5: Lüneburg-Winsen-Luhe

Day 6: Winsen-Luhe-Harburg

Day 7: Harburg-Hamburg
