Long march in Stockholm to protest Ocalan’s isolation

A two-day march has been started in Stockholm against the isolation imposed on the Kurdish people’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan at Imrali prison in Turkey.

Kurdish people and their friends in Stockholm, Sweden, through a long march which will last for two days, will protest the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and express solidarity with the activists on hunger strike in Kurdistan, Turkey and abroad.

The demonstrators today gathered at 11:00 at the Medborgarplatsen Square and started to march with posters of Ocalan and banners against the isolation.

The protesters through their march will draw attention to the human rights violations in Turkey, Ocalan’s isolation, and the Kurdish hunger strike campaign. The activists urge the Swedish government to take action in order to remove the aggravated isolation imposed on Ocalan.

The marchers are chanting slogans in support of Abdullah Ocalan, DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Guven, and the Kurdish freedom movement, while condemning the fascist state of Turkey under Erdogan rule.

The Kurdish Democratic Society Center (DTKM) in Sweden issued a statement about the action and said that they will stage a march for two days in order to demand the removal of Ocalan’s isolation, recalling that hundreds of Kurdish activists and political prisoners have gone on indefinite hunger strikes to demand freedom for the Kurdish leader.

The march will continue tomorrow at the Ralambshov Park at 11:00 and will be followed by a rally at the Norrmalm Square at 17:00.
