Bemal Tokçu faces the risk of imminent death after he was severely wounded by a bullet fired which hit him on the head during the crackdown police staged on people in Gever, Hakkari's Yüksekova district on Saturday. Police brutally attacked thousands who were joining the funeral of Reşit İşbilir (35) and Veysel İşbilir (34) who were shot dead by Turkish police during a demo in the district on Friday.

Tokçu's cerebral death is said to have occurred already, with his relative, Abdurrahim Atılgan, quoting the doctors as saying that; "We have no hope left for Bemal. We have done all medical interventions we could and he needs a miracle to live".

BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Van deputy Özdal Üçer who has accompanied Tokçu since he was hospitalized at a medical center in Van said Tokçu had slight chance to live.
