Thirty one youngster have been arrested last night while the 20th Kurdish festival in the German city of Manheim came to an end. Police detained the youngster following skirmishes caused by what was seen by the youngsters as a provocation on the side of the police. The police had tried to prevent a young boy from flying a flag, deemed by police as a political organization symbol and therefore - claimed the agents - forbidden by German law.

Skirmishes lasted for a while ending in the detentions. The festival has been one of the biggest seen in recent years, with over 100 thousand people joining it.
