A number of people have been taken into custody as Turkish soldiers carried out an expansive detention operation in Şemdinli and Yüksekova districts of Hakkari.

Many houses in the villages of Aşağı Tuğlu (Tuyi Bini) and Yukarı Tuğlu (Tuyi Jerî) in Şemdinli district were raided in the very early hours of the morning. Soldiers affiliated to the Harunan military post, accompanied by armored vehicles, have also made a detailed search with jammer devices.

On the other hand, soldiers from the military post in Coşanpınar (Vargeniman) village are reported to have left for an operation in the rural areas of Şemdinli.

Many people were detained as result of another large scale house-raid operation in Yüksekova district and some villages last night. Five have been taken into custody in Yeşildere neighborhood, one in Kamışlı (Sineva) village, one in Kadıköy (Kadyan) village and one in Kuruköy (Meğsudava) village.

Detainees have reportedly been taken to district police headquarters after undergoing health control at Yüksekova state hospital.
