As part of the ongoing political genocide operations against Kurdish politicians, many were detained in Ankara and Bolu, while 6 were arrested in Van.
VAN
A total of 37 politicians had been detained as a result of raids on DBP (Democratic Regions' Party) and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) in Van province on October 12. Following 7 days in custody at the anti-terror department of Edremit Police Directorate, the 37 Kurdish politicians were referred to prosecutor's office last night. After giving their statements here, 20 of the politicians were released while 17 others were referred to Van 2nd High Criminal Court with a demand for their arrest for “membership to a terrorist organisation”. 11 of these were later released on conditions of judicial control, while the rest were arrested on alleged charges of “membership to a terrorist organisation”. The jailed politicians are; DBP Van provincial co-chair Murat Sarisac, DBP İpekyolu district co-chair Hazım Harmancı, HDP İpekyolu district co-chair Tahirhan Sayyigit, DBP Edremit district co-chair Medeni Özer as well as politicians Dilaver Taşdemir and Necat Tanış.
ANKARA
Anti-terror police forces conducted an expansive detention operation in Turkish capital Ankara at around 06:00 this morning.
A number of people were taken into custody during the operation, including HDP MYK (Central Executive Board) member Atiye Eren, HDP PM (Party Assembly) member Bülent Durukan, HDP provincial executive Nihat İldan, HDP members Yıldız Bahçeci, Şerif Oti, HDP Headquarters executive Fahri Yalçın, HDK (Peoples' Democratic Congress) member Hüseyin Gevher, DBP Yeni neighborhood branch co-chair Kadriye Ozgan, Ankara Democratic Alevi Association (ADAD) executive Sevgi Kişin Sazan, Rojava Association Ankara Branch co-chair Arif Yıldız, BES (Union of Office Employees) executive Deniz Akıl, BES member Civan Yıldırım, Eğitim Sen executive Mazlum Bircan and TUHAD-FED chair Havva Özcan.
BOLU
On the other hand, HDP Bolu provincial co-chair Özgür Günaydın was taken into custody during a house raid by special operations police yesterday evening. Police searched Günaydın's house in detail for hours and later took him to provincial police headquarters.
ISTANBUL
In the meantime, police forces also conducted a simultaneous operation in many neighborhoods across Istanbul this morning. The operation by special operations and riot police was also supported by helicopters. Details of the operation are not clear yet.
