Many workers injured in blast at Silvan Dam

A number of workers have been injured, including 3 seriously, in a blast which occurred as a result of coal gas compression in the water transmission tunnel of Silvan Dam today.

A number of workers have been injured, including 3 seriously, in a blast which occurred as a result of coal gas compression in the water transmission tunnel of Silvan Dam today.

Despite all the reactions, the construction of Silvan Dam has restarted recently after a suspension as a result of warning by the HPG (People's Defense Forces).

The blast which happened in the 4,5 km of the water transmission tunnel left many workers injured, including 3 seriously and 6 with burns. The injured workers in the tunnel have been rushed to Silvan State Hospital in ambulances and service vehicles dispatched to the scene after the blast.

Following an emergency treatment, 4 workers have been referred to the Burn Unit of Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital.

The recently restarted construction in the dam has caused water shortage in Silvan and its villages.
