March in Berlin to demand lifting of PKK ban

Kurdish organisations and democratic forces in Berlin are organising a march to demand the removal of the PKK ban.

While the German parliament will hold a session on the motion submitted by Die Linke (Left Party) for the removal of the ban on the PKK on 26 February, Kurdish organisations and democratic forces in Berlin are preparing a march to demand the removal of the ban. The march is being organised by the Kurdish Democratic Society Centre (NAVDEM), Die Linke and other democratic forces in Berlin.

A press conference has been held in the NAVDEM office in Berlin about the march with participation of representatives of the organisations, including Yüksel Koç, the co-chair of NAVDEM, Hakan Taş, Berlin deputy of Die Linke in the local parliament, as well as representatives from the Kurdistan Solidarity Committee, ANTIFA, NAO, Kobane Solidarity Initiative, People’s Democratic Platform in Berlin, DESTAN Women’s Assembly and the KNK Berlin.

NAVDEM co-chair Yüksel Koç gave information about the march they are preparing to demand the removal of the ban on the PKK. The march will be held under the slogan “Remove the ban on the PKK! Let’s defend Sinjar and Kobane!” and will start from Potsdamerplatz at 14:00 on 21 February, and will end with a rally at Brandenburger Tor. Koç also reported that a press conference will be held on 26 February, the day of the parliamentary session on the motion of the Die Linke. A protest in front of the parliament at 16:00 on the same day will also take place with the participation of deputies, representatives of political parties and institutions, said Koç.
