Mass grave in danger because of "road works"

A mass grave in Dileklitaþ near Bitlis River where 24 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members’ bodies are buried is being destroyed on the grounds of ‘road works.’ The mass grave is being filled with debris and stones.

Representatives from the Human Rights Association (ÝHD) and the Mesopotamian Association of Help and Solidarity with Families of Missing Persons (MEYA-DER), Hasan Ceylan and Nihat Karababa, who have gone to the location for observation point out that it is unacceptable to destroy a location where a mass grave is known. Noting that the road works will destroy the mass grave, they call upon public sensitivity for the opening of the mass grave and identification of the buried bodies.
