May Day rallies cancelled in Antep, Urfa and Adana

Labor and trade organisations have cancelled the May Day events in Antep, Urfa and Adana provinces.

Labor and trade organisations have cancelled the May Day events in Antep province in the wake of the bomb attack that targeted the police headquarters at around 09:20 this morning.

The unions and organisations in the May 1 Organising Committee sent SMS to all their members and announced that the rally set to take place in İstasyon Square has been cancelled due to the blast.

Governor of Antep announced that 1 police died and 13 people including 9 policemen were injured as a result of the explosion. Hospital sources, on the other hand, report 66 injured.

The May 1 rally meant to take place in Topçu Square of Urfa province was also cancelled due to the bomb attack in Antep.

May Day events in the southern province of Adana have been cancelled as well in line with a 'suicide bomb attack' intelligence.
