MED Cooperative held Second Ordinary Congress

KNK co-chair Nilüfer Koç, exiled Kurdish deputies Nursel Aydoğan, Lezgin Botan, Faysal Sarıyıldız and Economist Ahmed Pelda attended the congress as speakers.

The Second Ordinary Congress of the MED Production and Sharing Cooperative took place in Düsseldorf, and was attended by delegates and Kurdish politicians.

The Congress opened with a special mention for DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven who is leading the hunger strike resistance demanding the end of isolation of Öcalan.

The Congress also reminded the hunger strike resistance in prisons and Europe as well as the resistance of the mothers.

After a minute silence for the martyrs of the revolution the activity and financial reports were read to the delegates. KNK co-chair Nilüfer Koç then delivered a speech about the importance of economic organization.

Kurdish politician Nursel Aydoğan, who has been elected for three terms HDP deputy for Diyarbakır said that the economic organization had a very important place in the struggle for a new life carried out by Kurds. Aydoğan underlined the importance in particular of cooperative work.

HDP Van MP Lezgin Botan, elected in the 25th and 26th terms, said that it was a pity that the Kurdish people who made a major revolution in Rojava were not at a very good level when it came to lobbying activities. Stressing that diplomacy and economic organization should be given weight, Botan said: “Although Kurdistan is reach both underground and upper ground, it looks like everyone, except Kurds, are benefiting from these resources. Because of political games, our people are left without their own resources.”

Kurdish politician Faysal Sarıyıldız, who served as HDP deputy in the 24th, 25th and 26th terms in Şırnak, described the progress of the fascism in Turkey and said that although it appears “we are paying a big price today, we will eventually win.”

Kurdish economist and journalist Ahmed Pelda emphasized the importance of institutionalization in Germany and stressed the need for strategically dealing with economic organization. He also gave information about the organization models in Germany.

Delegates then expressed their view, ideas and suggestions about how to run activities for the next year and then elected the new administration boards and executives.
