A media ban has been imposed on this morning's blast which hit the touristic Sultanahmet Square in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Coverage of the scene and details on the blast has been banned.

According to the first official statement on the incident, which was released by the Governor's Office, 10 people have died and 15 others were wounded in the blast. The death toll is feared to increased as some of those injured are reported to be in critical condition.

Police teams have evacuated the entire area and are not allowing access to the scene.
