Meeting on Öcalan’s isolation in Italian parliament

Aydemir called on European countries to support the activists in hunger strike resistance.

A press conference was organized in the Italian Parliament on the 29th day of indefinite hunger strike of activist Erol Aydemir in capital Rome.

The meeting in the parliament was attended by Erol Aydemir himself, as well as the mother of a Kurdish martyr, Zozan Yavuklu, who is on the 8th day of her solidarity hunger strike, and a group of Italian friends of the Kurds.

Speaking here, Aydemir talked about the role played by the government of Italy in the international conspiracy carried out against Abdullah Öcalan in 1999.

Aydemir stressed that silence on the isolation of Öcalan and lack of action against the Erdoğan regime hostile to democracy and freedom, meant complicity in atrocity.

The Kurdish activist also asked the members of the Italian parliament about the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish state and allied jihadist mercenaries. “Italy sells Erdoğan the helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles that are patrolling in Afrin. How can the Italian government remain silent on this?”

Remarking that Italy owes the Kurds, Aydemir added; “The Italian government should immediately end its commercial relations with Turkey.”

Aydemir also called on all European countries to support the activists in hunger strike resistance.
