Tension remains high in Mardin's Nusaybin district before the funeral of actor Mehmet Karana who, together with his brother, YPG (People's Defense Units) fighter Ömer Karana, died in the suicide attack carried out by al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front in Tirbesbiyê on Saturday.

Karana family has brought Mehmet's body to the district amid police crackdown on thousands of people waiting at the border gate to accompany them.

Two members of the family and the driver of the funeral vehicle carrying Mehmet have been taken into custody following the brutal police intervention. Police officers took Mehmet in the funeral vehicle to Mardin state hospital for autopsy.

People coming from Cizre and Nusaybin have started a march to the hospital.
