Mehmet Öcalan: Second visit to Imralı should be made soon
Families of inmates in İmralı Prison, the brother of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Mehmet Öcalan, Cumali Karsu's sister Pervin Oduncu and Şeyhmus Poyraz' brother Felek Poyraz have gone to Imralı Island on Monday for the biweekly family visit.
Answering journalists' questions in Gemlik on the way back from the island, Kurdish leader's brother Mehmet Öcalan said that a delegation should pay a visit to the island to convey messages from Imralı to the public and to Kandil. Öcalan remarked that; "The delegation should also consist of co-chairs, referring to BDP (Peace and Democracy Party), who will make a contribution to the practice of more democratic talks in the ongoing process. The participation of co-chairs in talks is of importance and necessary for the society".
Asked whether there will be a meeting with the Kurdish leader in the coming days, Mehmet Öcalan said that he doesn't have any information about the subject, and added; "This is a decision to be made by the government or by the state but there needs to be a second visit if the process is intended to make a progress".
Öcalan added that; "Everyone should make a contribution to the process of talks. This problem cannot be brought to a succesful conclusion by making a show on TV. There is a need to solve this problem to which the press can contribute by doing its fair share of the work".
