The Mesopotamia Platform of Religions and Beliefs released a written statement condemning the Belgian police attack against Medya Haber and Stêrk TV studios last night.
The statement pointed out that the attacks of the statist system against the Kurdish free press continue unabated, "European states, fearing the threats and blackmails of Erdoğan, who insists on war and Kurdish genocide, make life unbearable for the Kurds."
Pointing out that it is not a coincidence that the attack on the Kurdish free press came immediately after Hakan Fidan's visit to Brussels, the statement continued: "The AKP-MHP fascism seems to have gone crazy after the trustee regime was thrown out of Kurdistan in the 31 March local government elections, the Kurds stood strongly behind their will, and the fascist dictatorship lost in the metropolises. Because the Kurds and Alevis meet in the minimum democratic commons against fascism and have made the nationalist and religious power lose, the government is attacking everyone, like a bull that sees red.
As the Mesopotamia Platform of Religions and Beliefs, we strongly condemn the attack of the Belgian police against Stêrk TV and Medya Haber TV, which broadcast with the principle of accurate and objective journalism, undertaken by Kurds who had to or were forced to leave their country due to denial, massacres and genocides, and we invite the Belgian government to give up this unlawful attack.
Medya Haber and Stêrk TV are the voice of the Yazidis, Democratic Islam, Alevi faith, women, peoples, the poor, labourers and the people of four parts of Kurdistan. The free press, which makes the voice of stateless peoples and beliefs heard by the world public opinion, cannot be silenced. The Turkish state is waging an all-out attack against the Kurds, their friends, and the Free Press. This attack is being carried out in a country known as the "cradle of democracy".
The fact that the attack was carried out in the centre of Europe and that European countries remain silent is the result of the interest-based policies of the statist system. We call on Europe, and Belgium in particular, to abandon this political shame as soon as possible and put an end to the attacks against Medya Haber, Stêrk TV, all Kurdish journalists and the Free Press.
We invite the democratic public opinion to solidarity and struggle together."
