In a written declaration, the Mesopotamian Freedom Party (MÖP) saluted the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on its 42nd anniversary and commemorated the martyrs of the Kurdish freedom movement.
The declaration of the Christian population groups, Syrians, Assyrians and Chaldeans, said: “In the history of Mesopotamia, the PKK has carried forward a revolutionary, democratic perspective that has brought people together and made the Kurdish people known around the world.”
The statement added: “The resistance of the PKK against the racist and colonialist Turkish genocidal state became a hope for the oppressed, women and young people and won the sympathy of all peoples in the region. When we talk about the PKK, we talk about trust, resistance and the hope for equality, freedom and democracy. In this way, a new bond of life was created, which closely connects the Syrians, Assyrians, Armenians and Chaldeans with the Kurds and other peoples. This bond has spawned a democratic struggle against Turkish colonialism and the other colonial systems. In this way, the peoples can move forward together in the 21st century.”
The statement continued: “The Turkish state had no way of resisting the will of the PKK. Despite all its technologies, the Turkish state suffered heavy defeats against the guerrillas in Heftanîn and other regions.”
Reminding of the current tension especially in South Kurdistan, MÖP appealed to “the PDK and the PKK: If there is a problem, it has to be solved on a democratic level. We wish the PKK, which brought hope of freedom to the peoples of the Middle East, a successful 43rd year and that this year will be a year of freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and all the other political prisoners."
