Message from the resistance: we will fight to the end

YPG fighters in the front line in Kobanê have issued a call to the whole world. "ISIS gang members come from all over the world. They are savage and brutal. As everyone knows they chop off heads and commit rape. We call on everyone, not just the Kurds, to see this barbarity and support us morally, if not materially. We will not leave our positions until we have thrown ISIS out of Kobanê. All the world's states should know that we will fight to the end in Kobanê."

The struggle in Kobanê has now been going on for 55 days. The relentless resistance of the YPG/YPJ fighters is pushing the ISIS gangs back by the day. Young people from all over Kurdistan and the cities of Turkey have come to Kobanê to fight ISIS. The eastern and southern fronts are the scene of the fiercest conflict. When the gangs attacks fail, they resort to attacks with bomb-laden vehicles, but most of these are foiled by the YPG/YPJ resistance, which blows them up before they reach their positions. .

YPG fighter Deniz, who is on the eastern front, explains what has gone on during the last few days. "There are ISIS positions opposite. Sometimes they get within hand grenade range. They have snipers, but so do we."

'Let them see this barbarity and savagery'

Deniz called on the whole world, saying: "ISIS gang members come from all over the world. They are savage and brutal. As everyone knows they chop off heads and commit rape. We call on everyone, not just the Kurds, see this barbarity and support us morally, if not materially.

Deniz said there was a revolution taking place in Kobanê, adding: "The struggle here is for the oppressed. As we are fighting for the people we are happy. Our comrades who have fallen have not died in vain. They will continue to live in the hearts of the people of Rojava.

'We will not leave our positions until we have thrown ISIS out of Kobanê'

A YPG fighter by the name of Kurtay said he had been in Kobanê for a few weeks and was remaining on the front line, despite having sustained a face wound. "We have pledged to carry on this fight until the end," said Kurtay, adding: "There have been very violent clashes here. We always repulse them. We are fighting for Kurdistan. We will not leave our positions until we have thrown ISIS out of Kobanê. All the world's states should know that we will fight to the end in Kobanê."

In their positions 24 hours a day

Kurtay said: "We don't get much rest, but it is not difficult for us. We have made a promise to see this through to the end. It is what those who have fallen would expect. We have inflicted serious blows on the gangs in recent days. We have killed several of their commanders, which has had a psychological effect on them so they are not attacking as much."

'They are frightened'

YPG fighter Sinan said the fight in Kobanê was being continued in a determined way, adding that the ISIS gangs' capacity to attack had been diminished, saying: "We can prevent ISIS attacks from our positions. They are now feeling fear, as in the last 4 days they have suffered heavy blows. They can neither retreat nor advance. We have the initiative now. If necessary a thousand of us will fall, but we will not abandon Kobanê. Our comradeship is very strong. No one can break it. Our morale is high, despite all the brutality and hardship. One when of our comrades falls, our determination increases. While the YPG and YPJ forces are here Kobanê will not fall. All parts of Kurdistan must become part of the struggle. Our honour is our land, we have no other honour. We will do our utmost to expel ISIS from here. There is no other way."
