MKP prisoner goes on solidarity hunger strike

MKP prisoner Kadir Yıldız is on a 10-day hunger strike in solidarity with the Kurdish hunger strikers demanding an end to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan.

Maoist Communist Party (MKP) prisoner Kadir Yıldız, jailed in Kandıra No:2 F Type Closed Prison, has announced in a letter that he had started a 10-day hunger strike on February 20th. Saluting DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven who is on 110th day of her hunger strike against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Yıldız stressed that; “It is a revolutionary duty for us, socialists, to claim the hunger strike resistance”.

Yıldız continued; “No matter where we are, we cannot and should not remain silent on this resistance. We should fulfill our revolutionary duty through various actions wherever we are, and we should stand with the hunger strike resistance that has been ongoing for more than 100 days.”

The letter by the MKP prisoner ended with; “We, socialists, can have no excuse to be silent at a time and place where a legitimate revolutionary demand and action is taking place.”
