More detentions in Amed, Van and Şemdinli

Nine people have been taken into custody as result of house raids in Amed, Van and Şemdinli today.

Two people have been detained in the main Kurdish city Amed for allegedly taking part in the 6-7 October protests in solidarity with the Kobanê resistance. Detainees have been taken to Diyarbakır police headquarters.

Special operation teams have raided two houses in the Altınsu (Şapatan) village in Hakkari's Şemdinli district last night. Two people were taken into custody as police teams raided and searched two houses in the village. The detainees were taken to Şemdinli district police headquarters.

Special operation teams with armored vehicles also carried out raids in Hacıbekir (Xaçort) neighborhood of Van in the early hours of the morning. Four children detained in the operation were taken to the juvenile department of police headquarters. The number of detainees is expected to increase.

Following yesterday's detention of a 14-year-old minor and five other people in Başkale district of Van, for whom procedures at police headquarters continue, another person was taken into custody in the evening.
