More demonstrations are being held across the country to protest the AKP government's terror in the Kurdish region of the country, Northern Kurdistan.

Thousands have taken to the streets today to protest the AKP's genocidal policies against the Kurdish people.

VAN

Hundreds of women gathered for a demo led by KJA (Free Women's Congress, formerly DÖKH) in the province of Van to protest the state terror perpetrated in Kurdish towns under curfew.

The march from Rojin Women's Centre to Feqiye Teyran Park was joined by provincial and district co-chairs of DBP and HDP, members of Van Peace Mothers' Assembly, staff from district municipalities and Rojin Women's Centre, as well as a number of women.

Demonstrators were hindered by police and not allowed to stage a march to the planned site, upon which women made a statement to the press amid a blockade.

SİİRT

The sit-in led by DBP and HDP Siirt branches against the ongoing onslaught in Kurdish towns has continued in its second day.

Speaking after the sit-in outside Siirt Municipality, HDP executive Kamuran Kalkan said they will not remain silent on AKP state's denial and annihilation policies and executions of systematic massacre. He added that they will continue voicing their reactions on a democratic and fair ground.

URFA

Hundreds in Viranşehir district of Urfa joined a protest march against the state of siege in Northern Kurdistan. Demonstrators highlighted solidarity with the people of Sur, Cizre, Silopi, Nusaybin and Dargeçit, and called for peace against war.

Speaking here, HDP district co-chair Ayşe Sürücü described the executions of the AKP government in Northern Kurdistan as a crime against humanity.

Sürücü urged the government to end its attacks immediately, stressing that public security cannot be achieved by means of military and police forces, but rather by expanding the sphere of freedom and democracy.

MERSİN

Hundreds gathered outside HDP Mersin office today for a demo against the ongoing state of siege in Kurdish cities and towns.

The demo led by HDK Mersin Assembly was joined by HDP-held Akdeniz Municipality Co-Mayors Fazıl Türk and Yüksek Mutlu, Peace Mothers, KJA activists and staff from Emek-Der, Yakay-Der and Akdeniz Municipality.

Chanting slogans that condemned the state terror and praised the popular resistance in Northern Kurdistan, demonstrators were blockaded by police forces and not allowed to stage a march to a nearby area.

While police said "We will not allow it for the sake of your security", the mass staged sit-in which also witnessed a provocation by a nationalist waving a Turkish flag.

The demo was ended following short statements by peace mothers and HDP executives who voiced reaction in response to the state terror, and pointed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the one responsible for the growing conflict in the Kurdish region.

İZMİR

Members of İzmir Peace Mothers' Assembly also staged sit-in at Konak area in protest at the state terror against Kurdish people and isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The demo was also joined by many women who carried a banner "We want to hug our children, not their coffins", and chanted one single slogan; "People of Kurdistan are not alone".

Speaking on behalf of Peace Mothers, Cemile Aydın demanded an end to the ongoing war, and urged both sides to return to the table of negotiations for the achievement of an honorable peace.
