Mothers march in Amed despite police ban

The mothers continued their sit-in in front of the TUAY-DER for a while after arriving under police blockade.

Mothers of prisoners who wanted to hold a press statement in the Kosuyolu park in Amed’s Baglar district were stopped by the police. The mothers marched to the TUAY-DER building under police blockade to hold a sit-in there.

The police surrounded Kosuyolu Park with barriers and barred the mothers and HDP MPs Remziye Tosun, Saliha Aydeniz and Semra Guzel from entering the park.

Not let through by the police, the mothers held a sit-in. As the mothers continued their protest surroundd by the police, HDP MPs and administrators met with the police chief.

HDP MP Semra Guzel said the people have a right to hold protest marches and added that the treatment the mothers were subjected to accounts to torture.

The prisoners’ relatives were allowed to march to the TUAY-DER building after the meeting HDP members had with the police chief.

Prisoners’ relatives chanted, “Political prisoners are our honor,” “victory through resistance” and “A thousand salutes to Imrali.”
