MSD workshop in Berlin ended with proposals for a new Syria

Party representatives and politicians came together in Berlin organised by the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD). The participants said that the workshops were important.

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) launched a series of workshops in Syria and in Europe with the aim of discussing lasting solutions in the region with representatives of democratic opposition.

Workshops took place in Paris and Vienna and the last was held in Berlin and lasted two days.

MSD co-chair Riyad Derar, MSD deputy co-chair Mejdolin Hesen, Foreign Relations Committee Member Ali Rehmun and Hisen Omer participated in the workshop bringing together 40 people from different ethnic and religious groups from Syria.

A wide range of parties, organizations and representatives of civil society organizations and independent politicians came together to discuss about the establishment of a democratic Syria. 

One of the participants of the workshop, Ebdulmesîh Al-Shami, emphasized the importance of these meetings organised by MSD and said that they had fruitful discussions for two days.

Speaking to ANF, Al-Shami said that these workshops abroad played an important role in resolving the Syrian crisis. Emphasizing that all Syrian democratic opposition met for the first time in a workshop, El-Shami added: "Although the civil war in Syria has come to an end, the wound has still not completely healed. There is still a long way to go for Syria to heal its wounds and get back on its feet. In order to establish a free and democratic Syria, all ethnic and religious groups, colors and ideologies must come together."

The second series of workshops in Germany is expected to be held in Dortmund in the coming days. The workshop will be attended by Syrian opposition, writers and intellectuals living in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

In the workshop for dialogue held in Kobane, it was decided to organised work shops to talk about the Autonomous Administration and to develop dialogue among the various democratic opposition groups.
