National Security Council met for seven hours

The National Security Council (MGK) met on Thursday. The meeting lasted 7 hours at the end of which the MGK issued the following statement: “It has been emphasized that in the following period, as it has been until now, the fight against terrorism will be continued not only within a security dimension but also within a comprehensive and multifaceted approach which also includes the cleaning up of the environment supporting terror. In this context it has been underlined that democracy and respect for human rights will be, as it has always been, the focal points of our state’s efforts  in order to maintain the society and the individual's basic rights and freedoms."

In this context, the statement reads "we will fight against all kinds of actions and attempts of terror organization members and supporters under the cover of human rights that in fact target our people’s unity, integrity, security, peace and welfare, and this decisive approach will be maintained until the terror threat is averted with the trust and support of our nation”.

Noting that the issue of security of the general elections on June 12 has been discussed in detail, the statement continued as follows; “The trust has been confirmed that the attempts of terror organization and supporters to prevent our people from expressing their choices freely will fail thanks to the joined efforts provided by security measures and by a common sense approach by our people who are bounded to their country and the democracy”.
