Nechirvan Barzani arrives in Ankara

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani has arrived in Ankara on Monday to have a series of talks in the Turkish capital.

Barzani is expected to have a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan this evening. The meeting which came following the ceasefire called by Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) on 23 March is expected to handle the issues of PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party), bilateral relations and the crisis in Syria.

Following the peace call Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan made on 21 March, KRG released a written statement which said that "We approve and support the message Mr. Öcalan gave in Amed's Newroz for a peaceful solution and an end to the war and violence".

KRG said they would provide contribution to any step that PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) and the Turkish government will take for a peaceful and democratic solution.
