A new motion has been submitted to the Parliament for the removal of parliamentary immunity of three jailed Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputies Ýbrahim Ayhan, Gülser Yýldýrým and Selma Irmak. The motion has followed one other that has recently been prepared by the Prime Ministry to strip nine BDP deputies and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and independent deputy Aysel Tuðluk of their parliamentary immunity.
The investiagation launched by Diyarbakýr Public Prosecutor Ahmet Karaca on 2 May 2012 accuses the BDP deputies of "propaganda for an illegal organization" and quotes as an example the statements by jailed deputy Gülser Yýldýrým in which she announced her participation in the hunger strike that Kurdish political prisoners launched on 12 September and ended when Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan called on prisoners to stop on 18 November.
BDP Þýrnak MP Selma Irmak's speech in Ankara on 8 February 2008, when she was the Democratic Society Congress (DTP) co-chair, was also put forward as "criminal evidence".
The distribution of motions by parties in the Parliament are; 762 against BDP, 85 against CHP (Republican People's Party), 66 against the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) and 21 against the MHP (Nationalist Movement Party). The motions againt BDP deputies mainly consist of accusations such as "spreading propaganda and being members of an illegal organization", "opposing the law on meetings and demonstrations" and "praising the crime and guilty", while the AKP members subjected to motions are accused of bid rigging, corrupt practices and forgery.
