Hundreds of thousands of people are still trying to reach the area of Amed when Newroz is being celebrated.

"Freedom for Öcalan, status for Kurds", is the main slogan the huge crowd is chanting. On the stage a video showing huge photos of the Kuridsh leader. Music groups are taking the stage one after the other, with artist Farqin as speaker of the cerimony.

Today at noon (1 pm Turkish time) speakers will take to the stage, although it is not known when the announcement by Kurdish leader Öcalan will be read. It is understood the declaration will be read by two deputies, in both Kurdish and Turkish.
