A Newroz celebration was held in Toronto, organized by the Kurdish Community Centre, TCŞ and Sara Women's Movement.

Sipan Xelat, Merwan Tan, Azat Aslan, Osman Mirwais and local artists took the stage at the celebration attended by thousands of people.

Toronto Democratic Kurdish People's Assembly co-chair said: "This fire will never go out and will become a symbol of resistance, struggle and, in the end, victory, not of pain and sorrow."

After the speeches, some videos were shown, including one of a speech by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the last speech by People's Defense Center Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan.

Rojhilat and Bakur dance groups then took the stage. Some Canadian MPs conveyed their Newroz messages by video.

KCK Executive Council member Zübeyir Aydar attended the celebration via internet.
