Nine people detained in Reyhanlı - FLASH

Nine people have been deatined today in connection with the two bombs which went off in Reyhanlı on Saturday. Tension is high in the city of Hatay as the funerals of some of the 46 victims are taking place today.

Over 100 people have been wounded. But speculations are growing as to who is responsible of the deadly attacks. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the two car bombs. Deputy Prime Minister Beşir Atalay has said the nine people detained today are Turkish citizens, report Turkish media.

Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, Interior Minister Muammer Güler and Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu were with Atalay when he told members of the press that the nine suspects had been identified through their own confessions and statements.

Atalay also said 38 of the victims had been identified and pointed out that three are Syrian citizens.

Meanwhile Damascus, firstly indicated by the Turkish government as a possible responsible of the attacks, has denied any involvement. Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi said in a televised press conference: "Syria did not commit and would never commit such an act because our values would not allow that. We were saddened by the martyrs' deaths" he added. al Zhobi also added that "It is Erdogan who should be asked about this act".
