The politicians, lawyers and human rights defenders taken into custody as part of the police operation ordered by Ankara were referred to a judge with a request for arrest after giving their statements to the prosecutor.
Arrest requests were issued for Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputy co-chair Sevtap Akdağ, Kayapınar (Peyas) Municipality co-mayor Cengiz Dündar, Human Rights Association (IHD) founder Nimet Tanrıkulu, Genel-Iş President Remzi Çalışkan, Genel-Iş Union Mersin Branch President Kemal Göksoy, Halef Caruş, Ecevit Odabaşı, Nusrat Akın and Serdar Ekingen.
Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) member, lawyer Şiar Rışvanoğlu, Erdal Güzel, Faruk Ayhan and Recep Şimşek, were released on judicial control.
