No justice for the victims of the Roboski massacre in which 34 Kurdish civilians, mostly youngsters, were killed by Turkish warplanes on 28 December 2011.
Families of the victims held a press conference at the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Silopi office in Şırnak on Thursday to protest against the draft report released by the Parliamentary Uludere Sub-Commission investigating the Roboski massacre. The draft report which was passed by five votes to three has concluded that the massacre happened without deliberate intent and as a result of lack of coordination between military officials and civilian authorities.
Speaking on behalf of Roboski families at the press conference, peace activist İbrahim Yaylalı said that the draft report was the indication of the state's intention to keep the war in the country going. "The massacre we lived isn't the first one lived on these lands. These lands are impregnated by the numerous previous massacres that unfortunately still remain unsolved”.
Remarking that with the draft report the parliamentary commission has showed its attitude of ignoring peace, Yaylalı called on all those siding with peace to reject the draft report and to protest against the power standing behind the injustice.
“Each unsolved massacre will lead to another massacre and continuation of the war. Should the Roboski massacre remain unsolved, there will be no peace from our side”, he added.
