Norwegian Left Party: Kurds fighting ISIS must be supported
People from Kurdistan living in Norway organised a rally in front of the Norwegian parliament in support of the resistance against the attacks of ISIS on Kobane. The rally was joined by hundreds of people, mostly youth, as well as some members of and representatives of Kurdish parties and organisations such as KNK, PJAK, PYD, Gorran Movement, PUK, KZK, UngKurd (Young Kurds) and the Kurdish Cultural Association.
The chair of the Norwegian Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti), Audun Lysbakken, and the chair of the Red Party (Rød) Bjørnar Moxnes, also joined the rally.
Speaking at the rally, Audun Lysbakken, said the Kurds are the leading force in the fight against ISIS and therefore must be supported.
Lysbakken said it is the Kurds who are fighting in the frontline against ISIS, recalling the clashes in Sinjar and Kobane, adding that the Kurds must be strongly supported by the international community.
The chair of the Red Party, Bjørnar Moxnes, said: “today it is the PKK and the PYD fighting against the terror of ISIS. It is contradictory to keep those who are fighting against terrorism on the terrorist list”.
Moxnes further added that the Norwegian government must warn Turkey about its support for ISIS.
The rally in front of the parliament building also attracted the attention of the Norwegian media. Many leaflets and brochures about the Kobane resistance and the attacks of ISIS were distributed at the rally.
