Member of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) in Brussels, Mihemed Emin Penciwini, stated that Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council President Murat Karayılan have sent a letter to Iraqi President and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK) leader Jalal Talabani.
Kurdish politician Penciwini said he had delivered both letters to Talabani's wife at the YNK office in Sulamaniya on 1 May. Penciwini remarked that Öcalan's letter, which he had given to the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) delegation during their most recent visit on Imralı, couldn't be delivered to Talabani who has been in hospital abroad for some time.
Giving information about the content of Öcalan's letter, Penciwini said the Kurdish leader wished Iraqi President a speedy recovery and extended his wishes to see him turn back to politics and make efforts for the solution of the problems in Iraq and the region.
Penciwini stated that in his letter Öcalan also talked about his memories with Leader Mam Celal [referring to Talabani] and remarked that Mam Celal had different thoughts and opinions with him about the Kurdish question.
According to Penciwini, Öcalan called attention to the role Talabani has played in developments concerning the peace process in North Kurdistan for the last 16 years. Penciwini quoted Öcalan as saying in his letter that “I want Mam Celal to recover and see the peace process for himself soon”.
Penciwini noted that KCK Executive Council President Murat Karayılan also wished Talabani a speedy recovery in his letter.
