Speaking after the visit to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imralı Island on Monday, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair , who took part in the BDP delegation that paid the visit, together with deputies Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, said that Öcalan said he would make an historic statement on Newroz day, on 21 March, in Amed.

"This call will include detailed information on the military and political aspects necessary for the solution to the Kurdish question", Demirtaş quoted the Kurdish leader as saying.

According to the BDP co-chair, Öcalan sent the following message to Turkey; "The current process launched to seek for a solution to the Kurdish question is making progress. We are making an effort in order to reach the democratization of the whole territory of Turkey. I am preparing to make an historic call during Newroz celebrations on 21 March. My target is to come up with a solution for the issue of disarmament without losing time and without further deaths, The support which will be given by political parties and the parliament is for me of great importance. With this support my proposals could be put into practice. I hope the parliament will face up to its historic mission to ensure that withdrawal can take place and peace can become permanent. I hope to provide more detailed information on the process to the public opinion in due time”.
