Öcalan: In a few days our work will be made public

In a press conference following their visit to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on Sunday, BDP deputies Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan said that Öcalan would send a letter to the people of Turkey in the next few days.

Speaking at the meeting, held at BDP Istanbul office, Istanbul deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder conveyed the Kurdish leader's short statement.

The statemen reads:

“Dear esteemed people of Turkey,

the process in search of peace and a democratic solution we are going through is taking into account all sensitivities. I am working hard to make sure that the non-conflict environment we are reaching can become permanent and the process of withdrawal can begin. I can say that we have reached a promising point at present. I will share the work we have been carrying out in this respect with the people of Turkey in a few days. Expressing my gratitude to all those who have contributed to the process of democratic solution, I salute everybody confident that an equal, democratic and just peace can be reached”.

Answering journalists questions, Önder said that Öcalan would make his statement after making a final assessment of the letter he has recently received from the KCK (Kurdish Communities Union). Önder noted that they didn't have any information about the details for the withdrawal.
