In his message sent to the HDK (Peoples' Democratic Party) congress, Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan saluted the delegates and underlined that the works of the party constituted a great significance in the building of the democratic Turkey.

Öcalan pointed out that the struggle of the Kurdish liberation movement, inspired by Mahir Çayan and other revolutionary leaders, has since the very beginning defended with determination the togetherness of all the Kurdish, Turkish and all other peoples.

The Kurdish leader stressed that the HDP referred a historic turnout of importance in the joint struggle for democracy, adding that; “With the experience and knowledge of years, the struggle we are giving will unavoidably evolve into radical democracy. The HDP should consider itself to bear the knowledge and energy to abandon the elitist and conformist politics mindset and to build a grassroot organization predicating itself on the people.”

Referring to the democratic resolution process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question, Öcalan laid emphasis on the importance of negotiations and underlined that “revolutionary struggles can only turn into a permanent human peace through qualified negotiations”.

The Kurdish leader remarked that a party which will predicate itself on a new experience and democratic participation that will transform neighborhood and city councils into the mechanisms of authority and decision will play a great role in the Turkey reality.

"In this respect, I congratulate our congress and send my revolutionary wishes that you will take over this historical legacy, which I have always felt on my shoulders, with a new understanding, and that you will carry it to high [places]", the Kurdish leader added.
