BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) parliamentary group deputy chair Pervin Buldan spoke to Nuçe TV about the most recent visit she paid to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı prison, together with BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş on 7 June.
According to Buldan, Öcalan said it was time for the government to take steps as the first phase of the democratic solution process, the withdrawal of Kurdish guerrillas across Turkish borders and establishment of commissions, nears the end. Buldan said the Kurdish leader would make a comprehensive evaluation of the process after monitoring it within the next two weeks.
Buldan said the Kurdish leader was in good physical condition, and that he had expectations from the ongoing process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.
Remarking that BDP officials will meet the Minister of Justice, Sadullah Ergin, about the solution process on Tuesday, Buldan reminded that the government has yet taken no concrete steps for the second phase in which constitutional amendments should be made to pave the way for democratic politics.
"Öcalan attaches great importance to the peace and democracy conferences in Ankara, Amed, Hewler and Brussel which -he believes- will serve for ensuring the national unity of the Kurdish people and making contributions to their equality and freedom", Buldan said.
Buldan remarked that Öcalan saluted the Gezi Park resistance and believed the protests in Ankara, İzmir and Adana should be evaluated differently. "He said it was unacceptable that BDP deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who has taken an active part in the protest since the beginning, has been denied permission to visit him with the delegation. He said it was also important that meetings with him should take place on regular terms, once in 15 days", she added.
