Panel on Kurdish people's struggle at the House of Commons

The panel will discuss the latest developments and possible solutions to the anti-democratic rule of the Erdogan regime.

The Kurdish People’s Assembly is organising a panel discussion today on the Kurdish people's struggle for rights and democracy in Turkey.

The event is to be held at the House of Commons at 7 pm and guest speaker will be Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Honorary Chair of HDP.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) strategy in the Turkish municipal elections of March 2019 struck a big blow to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) stranglehold on Turkish politics, causing big losses in large cities including the Ankara and financial capital of Istanbul

In retaliation the Erdogan regime removed the democratically elected Kurdish mayors of Diyarbakir, Van and Mardin provinces and replaced them with “trustees”.

After the removal of democratically elected Kurdish Mayors, Interior Minister  Süleyman Soylu threatened to replace the Mayor of Istanbul.

As always the Turkish state’s most repressive policies start with the Kurds in the Southeast and begin to strangle Turkish democracy.

The panel will discuss the latest developments and possible solutions to the anti-democratic rule of the Erdogan regime.

Chair: Bambos Charalambous, MP for Enfield Southgate

Speakers: Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Honorary Chair of HDP and via Skype, HDP co-mayor of Van, Bedia Özgökçe Ertan.
