Events continue all around the world following the call of the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Campaign Committee for participation in the Global Days of Events from 15 to 22 June 2024, "Dialogue with Öcalan – you can’t imprison ideas!"
Panels on the İmralı System, the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the attacks against the Kurdish people were held in Helsinki and Turku in Finland.
In the panels organised by Helsinki Kurdistan Solidarity Network together with Rosebud Bookstore and Anarchist Black Cross Collective in Turku, it was emphasised that the Imrali isolation is unacceptable.
Rengin Ergül from the lawyers' organisations ÖHD and MAF-DAD gave information on the legal situation and isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and drew attention to the Right to Hope for Abdullah Öcalan under Article 3 of the ECHR on the prevention of torture. In addition, Martí Ódena from the Academy of Democratic Modernity said that the situation of the Kurdish leader is not independent of the general situation of the Kurdish people, the policies of annihilation and complicity of the international powers.
Representatives of left-wing organisations in Finland also took part in the discussions.
