A parliamentary question has been tabled in the Swiss Parliament over the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Kurdistan.
Switzerland's St. Gallen Canton Federal Parliamentarian Claudia Friedl (Socialist Party) submitted a parliamentary question calling upon the Swiss Parliament to provide information on the status of disaster relief for Rojava. The parliamentary question addressed the earthquake and the relief efforts in Turkey, North Kurdistan and North Syria. It also asked whether the Swiss Federal Parliament proposed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to declare a ceasefire in northern Syria.
The parliamentary question included the following:
1- How does Switzerland make sure that relief materials reach quake victims in northern Syria?
2- Women and girls are particularly vulnerable during crisis situations. What can Switzerland do for the protection of women and girls in the earthquake-hit region?
3- Despite the earthquake, clashes/attacks continue in northern Syria. What kind of diplomatic efforts can Switzerland make for a ceasefire?
4- Can Switzerland raise this issue at the UN Security Council?
