Peace Mothers' hunger strike continues
The hunger strike of Peace Mothers Assembly of Amed has been taken over by the Peace Mothers Initiative of Van and Peace Mothers Assembly of İzmir.
Mothers in Amed had launched a two-day hunger strike on 24 December to protest the denial of release of five jailed MPs of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party), İbrahim Ayhan, Gülser Yıldırım, Selma Irmak, Faysal Sarıyıldız and Kemal Aktaş.
Speaking at the press conference of the Peace Mothers Initiative of Van, activist Rukiye Arslan condemned the massacres suffered by the Kurdish people and remembered the victims of the Roboski massacre.
Arslan, remarking that thousands of Kurdish youths and politicians are jailed in Turkish prisons, underlined that they will give a struggle until the Kurdish deputies behind bars and all political prisoners are released and liberated.
Activists of the Peace Mothers Assembly of İzmir have also gone on one-day hunger strike at BDP İzmir office on Thursday to protest the denial of release of BDP deputies and ill prisoners. The strike will be joined by 15 more activists today.
Speaking on behalf of mothers on strike, Behiye Yalçın said they demanded the ending of the double standard in Turkish judiciary and the release of deputies of the Kurdish people.
